Work with the Film Angry Man

Two of our employees were trained in Norway by our colleagues from the Alternativ til Vold (ATV, Alternative of Violence) organisation. They are now qualified to spread know-how by working with the animated film Sinna Mann, which deals with domestic violence.

By the end of 2016 the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague had prepared and implemented 49 trainings for Czech professionals; two peer-to-peer workers were involved as well. Persons trained in this way can use this movie in their work with the target group of people at risk of domestic violence; they are better able to identify violence and are ready to work with children in affected families. The project has been promoted four times on our website, once in a newspaper article and once in our bulletin.

The number of trained workers offers hope for a permanent change in the whole area of this type of social work. The Magdala counselling centre uses the film in work with people who have been affected by domestic violence as well as in its prevention activities at selected primary schools. In the future, we will make the film and discussion about it a regular activity in our existing parenting workshops that deal with major conflicts and violence in families.
