There are many parents who take care of children of preschool and school age who work at the Cesta domů(Homecoming) organisation. Talks with its employees revealed that most of them would like keep in contact with their profession while on parental leave, further their education, and make use of flexible forms of work. For people in the non-profit sector, however, private child care is largely unaffordable.
Thanks to the expansion of services of the Pathway Children’s Centre while maintaining favourable prices, we have managed to support eight employees and two volunteers at Homecoming. We enabled a total of 54 parents to maintain contact with their profession during parental leave and to reconcile their work and private lives. On the whole, the project has helped ensure quality care for 32 children. All planned outputs have been implemented – expansion of services to all working days of the week, extension of the opening hours to 1.30pm, and purchase of an outdoor play set.
The target group encompassed parents caring for children under six years of age. Thanks to excellent references, many more people are interested in using the services of the Pathway Children’s Centre in the future. The main benefit of the project was financing the costs of the week-long operation while maintaining the quality standard of child care and the possibility to equip the centre with teaching aids, providing the children a stimulating environment for healthy development tailored to their individual needs.
